When I was in 6th grade, I declared I would be a writer, a stuntwoman or a stock-car driver when I grew up. After high school, my dreams shifted to writer, spy, Russian Ambassador or Marine Biologist. God entered the picture, and writer, missionary, wife, mom and speaker took over.

Missionary-speaker-teacher, wife and mom for 30+ years, I am now excited to chase the dream that has haunted my heart since elementary school… WRITER.

With three partially written novels hidden away, and many more ideas burning to get out, I decided it was time to put a subject I had been teaching in women’s conferences in Mexico and the US to paper. No Expectations won a Cascade Award for unpublished nonfiction at the 2017 Oregon Christian Writers Conference and then a First Timer’s Scholarship to the 2018 Mt. Hermon Christian Writers Conference.

I learned a lot at those conferences as I sat next to writing legend Frank Peretti, soaked in wisdom at workshops by writers like James Rubart, and heard inspiring lessons from bestselling authors like Tessa Afshar and Francine Rivers. I also made amazing friends like authors Christina Suzann Nelson and Tom Threadgill.

After a few years and life detours, I am still working hard to finish and polish my manuscript, preparing to query agents and send proposals to publishers. I have “no expectations,” and am leaving the rest in God’s hands to do as he sees fit.

Meanwhile, I am also keeping busy teaching, speaking, occasionally contributing to Iron Rose Sisters Ministry blog and dabbling with one of my own, which you can read here.
